  • Illustrated TalksLet me show you the Peak District and Derbyshire with the help of beautiful images and long standing background knowledge of the area.  Discover the unusual haunts and fascinating stories of the people and places that make up this wonderful National Park and surrounding area. Please also see the guided walks in Villages and Towns as any of these can be adapted to an illustrated talk – where you can do the ‘walking’ from the comfort  (and warmth!) of your own chair.
  • Guided walksA 1-2 hour walking tour around the following villages or towns, taking in the social history, architecture, geography and special interests of that particular special place. Discover the snippets and real life stories which go together to show how these villages or towns have changed over the years.   Ashbourne This beautiful townscape, noted for its wonderful Georgian Architecture and the famous visitors of the past, who helped to shape the History of Britain, makes a. fascinating tour. Though only a small market town it still holds a notorious Shrovetide football game every year, with hundreds of players on each side. All in all giving it a deserved place in the local history books.     Bakewell Here we find the story behind the unique Bakewell Pudding (not to be confused with the ubiquitous Bakewell Tart) in this picturesque Market Town, headquarters of the Peak National Park Authority, and a central hub to a large rural community. From the large collection early Celtic carvings to the modern day Agricultural Business Centre – Bakewell is full of hidden surprises.     Buxton Enjoy this northern Spa town, complete with stunning Georgian and Victorian architecture, including the famous Crescent and Dome. • Coach ToursTravel on less well known roads and see the spectacular views this area has to offer. Well planned stops with plenty to see and do and with a light hearted running commentary pointing out places of interest on the way. Let the driver do his job and allow me to tell you all about the background of the fascinating places you will see on the way. Have you ever wondered what that building or view was when you were passing and there was no one to ask? Or having a guide, who prepares you to look before it’s too late to see things, also allows you to take in so much more of the area and not miss that special building or place. The tour will give an understanding of how the stories all fit together and especially how all of you may well have a connection to this area no matter where you come from. Are you intrigued? Let me show you the Peak District from the comfort of your coach.
  • About me!  Some people would like to know the background of the person they are employing – so here are my credentials! I have worked for the Peak National Park Authority in all their Tourist Information Centres and previously their mobile caravan since 1983. This included places all across the Peak District, and gave me a wide ranging passion for the area I live in. I have also been lucky to regularly represent the Peak District at Events and Exhibitions both national and international in order to ‘sell’ the place as a holiday destination. After in depth training as a Blue Badge Guide I was lucky to be awarded the badge in 1992 and have subsequently taken out tours, walks, and put on illustrated talks since then.  Since qualifying I have been a member of The Guild of Registered Tourist Guides and hold their insurance, which is renewed annually. For those who like the formal paper work I also hold a Teaching Certificate and a BA Honours in Communication Studies. In addition I have various Marketing and PR qualifications from the years when I was seconded from the PNPA to Visit Peak District (the mini local Tourist Board at the time)…
